Publication Ethics
Publication Ethics
The publication of scientific content is a meticulous process that demands adherence to ethical practices and efficient management. The Journal of Agentic Intelligence in Medical Sciences (JAIMS) strives to collaborate closely with editors, authors, peer reviewers, and copy editors to uphold high standards of publication ethics.
Author’s Responsibilities
- Authorship: Authors should be individuals who have made significant contributions to the study, manuscript drafting, and responsibility for the authenticity of the content. Financial support or general supervision does not qualify for authorship. Each author’s contribution must be clearly stated, and authorship changes cannot occur without the written consent of all authors.
- Acknowledgement of Funding Sources: All authors must clearly state any financial support or sponsorship for the study, whether from government, non-government, or personal sources.
- Conflicts of Interest/Disclosures: Authors must disclose any conflicts of interest before publication.
- Data Ownership and Access: Authors should clarify the ownership and access rights to the data presented in the manuscript.
- Reporting Standards: Authors must comply with international standards for publications, especially for studies involving living subjects, and follow guidelines for concurrent publications.
- Ethical Approvals: Studies involving animals must mention ethical approval obtained from the relevant committee. Authors must also minimize animal suffering.
- Ethics of Investigation: Authors must adhere to the Helsinki Declaration guidelines. Manuscripts failing these ethical standards will be rejected.
- Permissions: Authors must obtain permission for content taken from previously published works.
- Originality and Plagiarism: The journal monitors plagiarism and fraudulent data strictly. Any detected cases will result in rejection.
- Appeal of Decision: Authors have the right to appeal an editorial decision in writing, citing reasons and providing supporting evidence.
Editor/Associate Editors/Editorial Members Responsibilities
- Editorship: Editors must ensure publication quality and adhere to publication ethics.
- Confidentiality: Editors must not disclose manuscript content before publication and must avoid using data for personal or financial gain.
- Assessment of Manuscripts: Editors evaluate manuscripts solely on scientific merit, without discrimination.
- Flexibility and Cooperation: Editors must address corrections and retractions when needed and cooperate with authors for quality improvement.
- Disclosure and Conflicts of Interest: Editors must recuse themselves from reviewing manuscripts where there is a conflict of interest.
Reviewers Responsibilities
- Reviewership: Reviewers must only accept manuscripts within their area of expertise and ensure reviews are completed on time.
- Conflict of Interest: Reviewers must decline reviewing manuscripts if there is any conflict of interest.
- Confidentiality: Reviewers must maintain confidentiality and not share manuscript content before publication.
- Objectivity: Reviews must be based on scientific content and value, avoiding bias based on personal factors.
- Meeting Standards: Reviewers must follow the review criteria and report unethical practices (e.g., plagiarism or data fabrication).
Double-Blind Peer Review Process
- Suitability Check: The editorial team ensures that the manuscript aligns with the journal's scope.
- Peer Review: The manuscript is sent to at least two expert reviewers, one of whom will be from outside the authors’ country to ensure an international perspective.
- Review Outcome: Reviewers will evaluate the manuscript, and based on their feedback, the editorial team will decide on acceptance, revision, or rejection.
- Final Decision: Authors will receive the final decision along with review comments and must address the revisions.
- Proofreading and Publication: After final revisions, the manuscript undergoes proofreading before publication.
Publisher/Copy-Editor Responsibilities
- Peer Review Coordination: The publisher coordinates the peer review and ensures the process is well-managed.
- Article Withdrawal and Corrections: Articles may be withdrawn if proven to be plagiarized, contain fraudulent data, or violate ethical standards. Minor corrections will be published with acknowledgment.
- Integrity and Quality of Services: The publisher guarantees confidentiality before publication and ensures compliance with archiving and abstracting standards.
